The Gonzo Bible Study | About the Ministry

The Gonzo Bible Study was founded by Pastor Robert S. Clark, a heavily tattooed disciple of Jesus Christ with a deep love for biblical truth, creative storytelling, and unfiltered ministry. What began as a bold digital experiment—four podcasts exploring faith, film, theology, and tattoos—eventually gave way to something more focused, more eternal: a life fully surrendered to the call of full-time ministry.

In September 2018, Pastor Robert stepped away from the podcast mic and enrolled at Liberty University’s Rawlings School of Divinity, where he earned a B.S. in Christian Counseling and an M.A. in Christian Ministry. Today, he serves as the Discipleship Pastor at Northside Charlotte Church (northsidecharlotte.com), where he leads others into deeper discipleship, Scripture-saturated living, and bold gospel formation.

He is also the author of The Heart of the Tree, the first novel in the epic allegorical fantasy series, The Chronicles of the City of E—a world birthed over a decade ago through prayer, Scripture, and Spirit-led imagination. Published on the birthday of the grandfather he was named after, the book represents not only a literary milestone, but a spiritual legacy. With at least seven more books in the series already underway, the City of E is more than a fictional world—it’s a calling.

Pastor Robert lives in Charlotte, NC, with his wife Amanda and their three children: Obadiah, Hadassah, and their newborn baby girl. His heart for Gonzo Bible Study is simple—to help people encounter the real, raw, transforming power of the Word of God.

Joining him in this ministry is his father, Pastor Richard “Rick” Clark, a 50-year veteran of pastoral ministry and a steadfast voice of truth and grace. With a B.S., M.Div., and honorary doctorate (D.h.c.), Pastor Rick has shepherded congregations across 11 churches throughout the United States and Europe, faithfully accompanied by his wife Jackie. Though now retired from full-time pastoral ministry, Pastor Rick remains actively engaged in teaching, mentoring, and contributing to the ongoing mission of Gonzo Bible Study.

His legacy of faith, wisdom, and biblical conviction continues to pour into this generation—and the next.
